Candidates with foreign language certificates, especially IELTS, have many advantages when applying to the Academy of Finance in 2025
Important notes to avoid unfair university rejection
From 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training officially abolishes early admission in university enrollment, and all must follow the common admission process on the Ministry’s system.
Right after knowing the high school graduation exam results, candidates begin to register and adjust admission preferences (unlimited times) from July 16 until 5:00 PM July 28.
After completing preference registration, candidates need to pay the admission fee according to the number of preferences registered. The payment period starts on July 29 and ends at 5:00 PM on August 5.
Dr. Trinh Thanh Huyen – Director of the International Training Institute, Academy of Finance – advises candidates, when registering preferences, to carefully read instructions and consult official materials from schools or from trusted media channels to clearly understand the process before proceeding. After registration, log out and log back in to check if the system has recorded preferences to avoid errors due to network or disconnection issues.

Dr. Trinh Thanh Huyen gave an example that a common error among candidates is entering the wrong school code because it does not match the commonly used abbreviation.
“The Academy of Finance’s school code is HTC. The Joint Training Program Each Side Awards One Bachelor’s Degree (DDP) has the admission code: 7340201DDP for the Finance – Banking major. Candidates need to carefully review the official admission project published on the school’s website to obtain the admission codes for each major and training program.
A minor mistake can affect the entire registration and admission process. Therefore, always closely follow official announcements both from the Ministry of Education and Training and from universities to update accurate information,” Ms. Huyen analyzed.
Opportunities for candidates with international English certificates
In 2025, the Academy of Finance applies three admission methods: direct admission according to the Ministry of Education and Training regulations; combined admission for candidates with excellent academic performance in high school for 3 years; admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam.
Notably, candidates with international English certificates such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, SAT will have their scores converted to a 10-point scale to replace the English subject graduation exam score (including those without an English exam score) and be multiplied by a coefficient in the Academy’s admission score calculation formula. This is a clear advantage for candidates proficient in foreign languages.
Additionally, for admission based on the 2025 high school graduation exam results, candidates with international English certificates will also have their scores converted and used to replace the English subject score in admission combinations.
Consider admission strategy
Predicting 2025 enrollment, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung – Director of the Academy of Finance – believes the admission score range may spread widely from 22 to 28 points, not concentrated like in 2024 (26.03 – 26.85 on a 30-point scale and 34.35 – 36.15 on a 40-point scale).
Thus, the admission scores for some majors at the Academy of Finance might drop by 3 to 4 points compared to last year.
Dr. Trinh Thanh Huyen suggests candidates proficient in foreign languages who want to pursue finance, banking, accounting, or auditing majors consider enrolling in the Joint Training Program Each Side Awards One Bachelor’s Degree (DDP) program. Graduates will receive 2 official Bachelor’s Degrees from the Academy of Finance and the University of Greenwich (UK).
Students also have the opportunity to study abroad in their final year in the UK with reasonable costs.
“This is the only program exempting the study and testing of 9 F-level subjects (from F1 to F9) in the ACCA Global certification system, creating a great advantage for students pursuing professional accounting and auditing, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources in the Finance industry,” Ms. Huyen said.
