Candidates with international foreign language certificates will have their scores converted by many universities to a 10-point scale to replace their high school graduation exam foreign language scores.
Increasing opportunities for candidates with foreign language certificates
According to this year’s admission regulations, universities can convert foreign language certificates into foreign language subject scores to include in admission subject combinations.
With this rule, besides using the foreign language exam scores from the 2025 high school graduation exam for admission, universities will also convert foreign language certificates into scores within admission subject combinations that include foreign language.

Additionally, with the admission method based on the 2025 high school graduation exam results, candidates with international English certificates will also have their scores converted and used to replace the English subject score in admission combinations.
In an interview at the 2025 Admission Preference Selection Fair held at Hanoi University of Science and Technology on July 19, Dr. Trinh Thanh Huyen said candidates with foreign language proficiency who wish to pursue finance, banking, accounting, or auditing majors can increase their admission chances by choosing the Joint Training Program Each Side Awards One Bachelor’s Degree (DDP). Graduates will receive two official Bachelor’s degrees from the Academy of Finance and the University of Greenwich (UK). Students also have the opportunity to study abroad in their final year in the UK at a reasonable cost.
“This is the only program exempting study and testing in all 9 F-level subjects (F1 to F9) within the ACCA Global certification system, creating a great advantage for students pursuing professional accounting and auditing careers, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources in finance,” Ms. Huyen said.

Ms. Pham Thi Kim Thu said to increase candidate opportunities this year, the university added many new admission subject combinations focusing on foreign languages, economics-management, information technology, and included direct admission and aptitude assessment methods.
Notably, the university also added new foreign language certificates for admission such as HSK, HSKK (Chinese), JLPT (Japanese), TOPIK (Korean).
Avoid mistakes when registering admission preferences
From 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training officially abolishes early admission in university enrollment and requires all to follow the unified admission process on the Ministry’s system.
Right after the high school graduation exam results are announced, candidates start registering and adjusting admission preferences (unlimited times) from July 16 to 5:00 PM July 28.
Dr. Trinh Thanh Huyen advises candidates to carefully read instructions and consult official materials from schools or trusted media to fully understand the process before registering.
After completing registration, candidates should log out and log in again to check if the system has recorded their preferences, avoiding errors caused by network or connection interruptions.
According to Dr. Huyen, a common mistake is entering the wrong school code because it does not match the familiar abbreviation. She gave the example that the Academy of Finance’s school code is HTC, and the DDP joint training program’s admission code is 7340201DDP. Candidates need to carefully review the official admission project on the school’s website to get the admission codes for each major and training program.
“A small mistake can affect the entire registration and admission process. Therefore, always closely follow the official announcements from the Ministry and universities to update accurate information,” she analyzed.
Admission score forecasts
Admission scores this year may be lower than last year; however, Dr. Huyen reminds candidates of the “floating water lifts all boats” principle – all scores decrease generally. Candidates can consider last year’s admission scores to arrange their admission preferences optimally.
Candidates should divide their preferences into three groups: Group 1 is the dream choice with some gap from their scores; Group 2 is the safe choice; Group 3 is lower than their scores to ensure admission opportunities this year.
