Notification of Admissions to the Dual Degree Programme (DDP) of BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance and Bachelor’s Degree of Finance – Banking in Corporate Finance

This announcement provides the key information of how to graduate with two degrees from the UK and Vietnam.

The Institute of International Finance Education and the Academy of Finance would like to take this opportunity to announce the commencement and admission to the BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance programme.  This degree is a joint collaborative programme between the University of Greenwich (UK) and the Academy of Finance.  On successful completion of the degree BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance, students will be eligible to graduate with two certificates from each awarding institution in Vietnam and the UK.  This DDP (Dual Degree Programme) commenced in September 2020 and we are looking forward to new applications for the new intake commencing September 2021. 

I. Name and Final Award of the programme

Vietnamese name: Joint training programme graduated two degrees from two universities (Decision no. 2361/QD-BGDDT July 8, 2016 of Ministry of Education), the Academy of Finance (Vietnam) and the University of Greenwich, UK

English name: Dual Degree Programme, called “DDP programme” for short

UK Final Award: BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance.

Training programme consists of 360 credits QCF – UK (127 credits – Vietnam)

2. Language of Instruction

Subjects and modules of the general and basic knowledge training courses are taught in Vietnamese. Specialized subjects and modules are taught in English. Students must have 6.0 IELTS when studying specialized knowledge.

3. Duration of Programme

The programme duration is 4 years according to the following study routes:

  • 4 years study in Hanoi; or
  • 3 years study in Hanoi and 1 year at the University of Greenwich (London, UK) Campus.
4. Final Awards and Degree Certificates

Graduates are granted the following degrees:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Banking by the Academy of Finance; and
  • Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Accounting and Finance by the University of Greenwich.

Graduates are recognized by the Association of Chartered Certificated Accountants – ACCA and exempted from all 9 F subjects (from F1 to F9) in the framework of the exam to get accounting and audit practice certificates by ACCA Global.

5. Location of Study

Study place in Vietnam:

Phan Phu Tien hall, the Academy of Finance (Institute of International Finance Education), 23C Hang Chao, Cat Linh ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi (in front of Gate 10, Hang Day Stadium).

Study place in the UK:

University of Greenwich, Old Royal Naval College, Park Row, Greenwich Peninsula, London SE10 9LS, UK.

In case students do not expect to study the final year in the UK, they will study all 4 years in Vietnam.

6. Enrollment 2020

Enrollment number: 120

Scope: Admissions from all candidates are welcome including non-Vietnamese and students who have graduated from high schools abroad.

7. Entry & Admission requirements.

Targeted candidates for DDP include:

  • Students graduated from high schools and studied at gifted high schools of the Ministries, provinces and centrally – controlled cities.
  • Students graduated from high schools and studied at other high schools across the country.
  • Students graduated from high schools abroad, expecting to study DDP programme in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Standards: Good health, good conduct for all 3 years of high school. Students studying at Continuing Education Centers are not counted. 

8. Subject requirements.

The combination of subjects to register for admission includes A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry); A01 (Math, Physics, English); D01 (Math, Literature, English); D07 (Math, Chemistry, English).

9. Admission methods

Admission methods include:

  • Direct enrollment for candidates who are excellent students at national and international levels as prescribed in the regulation of the Ministry of Education and Training.
  • Direct admission of excellent students for candidates who are qualified as excellent high school students.
  • Admission based on the results of high school graduation exam 2020 for students registering for admission based on the scores of high school graduation exam 2020.
  • Admission based on the combination of the result of high school graduation exam 2020 and international English proficiency certificates (IELTS, TOEFL), SAT, ACT.
  • Direct admission for students graduated from high schools abroad, including foreigners and Vietnamese students graduated from high school abroad.

Students graduated from high schools before 2020 are registered for admission in the form of direct admission of excellent students if they meet the criteria for the direct admission of excellent students; or are registered for admission based on the results of high school graduation exam 2020.

10. Order of priority for direct admission of excellent students

Students graduated from high schools nationwide (graduated from high schools in 2020 or graduated from high schools before 2020), having a good conduct in the 3 years of high school and a good health, excluding students graduated from Continuing Education Centers, will be considered for admission in the form of direct admission of excellent students according to the following priority order:

The 1st priority: The order of priority given to students will be as follows:

Students studying at national gifted high schools will be directly recruited in the following order:

 (1.1). Excellent students in the 3 years of high school with one of the following requirements:

  • Have an international English proficiency certificate of 5 IELTS or TOEFL IBT 55 or above;
  • Get 1050/1600 or above for SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test, US) or 22/36 or above for ACT (American College Testing, US);
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes at the provincial and municipal contest of high school national excellencefor one of the subjects: English, Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry and Literature;
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes in science and technique contests at the provincial or municipal level including at least one module of Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, English or Literature;

 (1.2). Excellent students in the 2 years of high school including grade 12 with one of the following requirements:

  • Have an international English proficiency certificate of 5 IELTS or TOEFL IBT 55 or above;
  • Get 1050/1600 or above for SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test, US) or 22/36 or above for ACT (American College Testing, US);
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes at the provincial and municipal contest of high school national excellencefor one of the subjects: English, Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry and Literature;
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes in science and technique contests at the provincial or municipal level including at least one module of Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, English or Literature;

 (1.3). Students are excellent in grade 12 and with one of the following requirements:

  • Have an international English proficiency certificate of 5 IELTS or TOEFL IBT 55 or above;
  • Get 1050/1600 or above for SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test, US) or 22/36 or above for ACT (American College Testing, US);
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes at the provincial and municipal contest of high school national excellencefor one of the subjects: English, Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry and Literature;
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes in science and technique contests at the provincial or municipal level including at least one module of Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, English or Literature;

The 2nd priority: Students studying at high schools across the country will be directly recruited in the following order:

 (2.1). Excellent students in the 3 years of high school with one of the following requirements:

  • Have an international English proficiency certificate of 5 IELTS or TOEFL IBT 55 or above;
  • Get 1050/1600 or above for SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test, US) or 22/36 or above for ACT (American College Testing, US);
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes at the provincial and municipal contest of high school national excellencefor one of the subjects: English, Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry and Literature;
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes in science and technique contests at the provincial or municipal level including at least one module of Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, English or Literature;

(2.2). Excellent students in the 2 years of high school including grade 12 with one of the following requirements:

  • Have an international English proficiency certificate of 5 IELTS or TOEFL IBT 55 or above;
  • Get 1050/1600 or above for SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test, US) or 22/36 or above for ACT (American College Testing, US);
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes at the provincial and municipal contest of high school national excellencefor one of the subjects: English, Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry and Literature;
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes in science and technique contests at the provincial or municipal level including at least one module of Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, English or Literature;

(2.3). Students are excellent in grade 12 and with one of the following requirements:

  • Have an international English proficiency certificate of 5 IELTS or TOEFL IBT 55 or above;
  • Get 1050/1600 or above for SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test, US) or 22/36 or above for ACT (American College Testing, US);
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes at the provincial and municipal contest of high school national excellencefor one of the subjects: English, Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry and Literature;
  • Achieve the first, second and/or third prizes in science and technique contests at the provincial or municipal level including at least one module of Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, English or Literature;

The 3rd priority: Students achieving the first, second and/or third prizes at the contest of high school national excellence at the provincial and municipal level or above in one of the subjects English, Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry and Literature.

The 4th priority: Students studying at national gifted high schools (provinces and centrally) and having good academic assessments in 3 years. The result of grade 12 of each subjects in admission combination is 7.0 or above (students studying in specialized classes in English, Math, Informatics, Chemistry, Literature are preferred for admission)

The 5th priority: High school students across the country are qualified as excellent students in 3 consecutively years, in which the result of grade 12 of each subject in admission combination is 7,0 or above.

11. Calculating admission score

Method of calculating scores for direct admission of excellent students:

The admission scores for direct admission of excellent high school students are based on the overall grade of high school and are calculated according to the following formula:

Admission score = Score of subject 1 + Score of subject 2 + Score of subject 3 + Priority scores (if any)

In which:

Score of subject 1: Average Grade of subject 1 in grade 12.

Score of subject 2: Average Grade of subject 2 in grade 12.

Score of subject 3: Average Grade of subject 3 in grade 12.

Priority scores: Follow the current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The method of calculating admission scores based on the result of high school graduation exam 2020:

Admission score = Score of subject 1 + Score of subject 2 + Score of subject 3 + Priority score (if any)

In which:

Score of subject 1: Score of subject 1 of High school graduation exam 2020.

Score of subject 2: Score of subject 2 of High school graduation exam 2020.

Score of subject 3: Score of subject 3 of High school graduation exam 2020.

Priority scores: Follow the current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The method of calculating admission scores based on the combination of international English proficiency certificates, SAT, ACT and the result of high school graduation exam 2020.

Admission score = Score of subject 1 + Score of subject 2 + Converted Score + Priority scores (if any)

In which:

Score of subject 1: Score of Math

Score of subject 2: Score of Literature; or Physics; or Chemistry.

Converted score: Score of International English certificate or SAT score has been converted on a 10-point scale.

Conditions: The total score of subject 1 and subject 2 is equal to 11 or higher, and no subjects are equal to 1 or lower.

Priority scores: According to the current admission regulations.

Admission score takes up to two (02) decimal digits.

Cases with an international certificate of English proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL) or having SAT or ACT test results converted (on a 10-point scale) for English subject calculated into admission score for DDP programme, as follow:

  • Certificate of IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL ibt 50; SAT 950/1600; ACT 17/36 are converted to 8.00 points for English subject for calculating the total admission score.
  • Certificate of IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL ibt 55; SAT 1050/1600; ACT 22/36 are converted to 9.00 points for English subject for calculating the total admission score.
  • Certificate of IELTS 6.0 or above; or TOEFL ibt 60 or above; SAT 1200/1600; ACT 25/36 or above are converted to 10 points for English subject for calculating the total admission score.

Key admission criteria: Total scores of 3 subjects in the admission combination (DKXT) and priority scores (if any).

Successful candidates are processed for enrollment immediately. Admission scores will be determined from the highest until it meets the admission number.

Additional criteria for admission: In case admission to a certain score does still not meet targeted admission number but the number of students whose scores are equal to each other are more than the remaining admission number, the admission will be processed by additional criteria – the scores of English subject.

12. Tuition

Tuition fee for all 4 years of studying in Vietnam is 280.000.000VND.

In case students expect to study the last year in the UK, the tuition fee for the whole course, including tuition fee for 3 years of studying in Hanoi and the final year in London, is 680.000.000VND.

The above fees will not change throughout the course and will be paid once a year before the new school year starts.

13. Application and deadline for admission

Application form for admission

All admission profiles to DDP can be submitted according to one of the following three forms:

a). Register and submit an admission profile online at www.iife.edu.vn (in priority).

b). Submit directly at the Institute of International Finance Education at No. 4, Hang Chuoi Lane 1, Pham Dinh Ho Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi, or No. 23C, Hang Chao Lane (53E Phan Phu Tien), Cat Linh Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi.

c). Submit via express delivery at the address of the Institute of International Finance Education, 1st Floor, Academy of Finance, No. 23C, Hang Chao Lane (53E Phan Phu Tien), Cat Linh Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi.

An admission profile includes:

  • An admission registration form (download from the website iife.edu.vn).
  • A legal copy of high school transcript, a certificate of high school graduation, a score report card of high school graduation exam 2020.
  • Legal copies of priority documents, certificate of awards, certificate of international English proficiency (if any).

Fee for admission profile submission: 100,000 VND/admission profile.

Deadline for receiving admission profiles for the direct admission form of excellent students no later than 17:00, July 23rd, 2020 or until enrollment number is full/met.

Deadline for receiving admission profiles based on the result of high school graduation exam 2020 or the combination of international English proficiency certificate, SAT, ACT with the result of high school graduation exam 2020 until 17:00, August 31st 2020 or until enrollment number is full/met.
