In the context of Vietnamese higher education deeply integrating into the global academic system, the Academy of Finance continues to affirm its position as a reliable partner of leading universities worldwide.

Recently, a delegation from the Academy, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung – Director of the Academy of Finance, paid an official visit to the University of Greenwich (UOG), United Kingdom.

The visit was not only a diplomatic activity aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation but also a working session for in-depth discussions, where both sides reflected on their 10-year partnership journey and outlined broader development directions for the future.

This event marked a new milestone in the partnership between the two institutions, aiming to train high-quality human resources in finance and business to meet the demands of the digital and globalized economy.

A Successful and Reputable Model of International Partnership

The partnership between the Academy of Finance (AoF) and the University of Greenwich (UOG) has become a model example of international educational collaboration, with remarkable achievements that both institutions proudly highlighted during the meeting.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung emphasized:

“The cooperation between the Academy of Finance and the University of Greenwich is a typical success story in international education partnership. The achievements gained are the clearest evidence of our shared commitment to improving the quality of training and research.”

Key Milestones and Achievements in the AoF–UOG Partnership

  • Master’s Program in Finance and Investment:
Launched in 2013, this program has successfully enrolled 21 cohorts with over 400 students, nearly 300 of whom have graduated. Graduates of the program currently hold key positions in government agencies, leading commercial banks such as Vietcombank and BIDV, as well as in major corporations like Vingroup and Viettel, and especially within the Big Four firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG). This demonstrates not only the program’s quality but also its contribution to developing a highly skilled financial leadership workforce for Vietnam’s economy.

  • Dual Degree Program (DDP):
The DDP, launched in 2016, has attracted over 1,000 students. The employment rate exceeds 98% after graduation, with many alumni advancing quickly in international work environments. A significant advantage of the program is the exemption from nine ACCA exams (F1–F9), granted by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, UK), paving a solid career path for graduates to access high-level professional positions in multinational enterprises.

  • Research Collaboration and International Conferences:
The two universities have successfully co-organized a series of prestigious international conferences focusing on sustainable finance, digital transformation in accounting, and risk management. Currently, they are preparing for the 2025 International Conference, expected to attract leading experts from Europe, Australia, America, and Asia, further promoting interdisciplinary academic research and global academic exchange.

Elevating the Partnership with New Strategic Directions

Building on a strong foundation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung proposed a set of strategic directions to deepen and expand the partnership between the Academy of Finance (AoF) and the University of Greenwich (UOG). These proposals received strong support from UOG, paving the way for a broader and more comprehensive collaboration in the 2025–2030 period.

The key directions include:

  1. Innovating programs to embrace the 4.0 era:
Both sides agreed to research and integrate new content on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analytics into finance and accounting curricula at both the bachelor’s and master’s levels. This aims to ensure that students not only master core knowledge but also stay aligned with global trends—such as AI applications in financial forecasting and risk data analysis. The programs will incorporate practical case studies drawn from UOG’s research projects to enhance real-world applicability.

  2. Developing faculty and strengthening exchange programs:
The Academy of Finance proposed a concrete plan to implement annual faculty and student exchange programs, including sending 3–5 lecturers to the UK each year for training, research, or PhD studies. This is considered a long-term strategic investment to build a core team meeting international standards, directly serving joint programs and advancing scientific research at the Academy.

  3. Expanding collaboration into new joint training fields:
Both parties discussed and agreed on the development of dual-degree programs in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. In line with the strong trend of digital transformation, the Academy of Finance is also opening new disciplines such as Financial Technology (FinTech), Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Semiconductor Technology. Leveraging UOG’s strengths in information technology and engineering, both institutions plan to jointly develop these programs—potentially implemented at the Hoa Lac campus, a modern educational model designed to train high-quality human resources for national and international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.

These orientations go beyond education alone—they are closely linked to Vietnam’s national strategic goal of developing a globally capable financial workforce to support the growth of regional and international financial hubs.

During the visit, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung also officially announced the plan to organize the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Dual Degree Program (DDP) in 2026. This will be a significant milestone event, bringing together alumni, lecturers, and international partners to honor the program’s contributions to the professional success of thousands of graduates.

The Academy of Finance extended a cordial invitation to the senior leadership of the University of Greenwich to attend this special event in Vietnam — a symbol of the long-standing and enduring partnership between the two institutions.
