Five leading professors in economics and finance from around the world will serve as keynote speakers and discussion chairs at the 8th International Conference on SEDBM, which will take place from November 13 to 15 at the Academy of Finance

(AOF) – On October 31, at the main campus located at No. 58 Le Van Hien Street, Dong Ngac, Hanoi, the Organizing Committee of the 8th International Conference on “Sustainable Economic Development & Business Management: Opportunities and Challenges in Global Frontier Markets” held a meeting to review the preparation work. The meeting was also connected online via the Zoom platform. Immediately after the meeting, various preparatory activities for the conference continued to be carried out, ensuring full readiness for its success.

An overview of the in-person meeting on October 31

Attending the in-person meeting at the Academy of Finance were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thanh Hoang – Head of the Department of Scientific Management, Standing Member of the Conference Organizing Committee, together with members: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Thi Thuy – Former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Former Vice President of the Academy of Finance, Head of the International Certificate-Oriented Program Management Board; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Ngoc Anh – Dean of the Faculty of Accounting; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Van – Head of the Department of International Cooperation; MSc. Truong Thi Van Ly – Director of the Center for Foreign Languages, Informatics and Continuing Education in Finance and Accounting; Dr. Pham Thi Tam – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Foreign Languages (in charge); Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Nga and Dr. Dao Ngoc Ha – Deputy Heads of the Department of Scientific Management; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Duy Vinh – Dean of the Faculty of International Finance; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Thanh – Faculty of Accounting.

The meeting was also connected online with members of the Organizing Committee from the Institute of Socio-Economic and Environmental Studies, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Ngoc Anh – Dean of the Faculty of Accounting, Academy of Finance, presented the preparation work on the conference’s content.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mai Ngoc Anh reported on the progress of content preparation for the conference. Accordingly, around 170 papers have been submitted for inclusion in the proceedings from 15 domestic and international universities. After undergoing a two-round independent peer review process, the Editorial Board selected 84 papers to be invited for presentation and considered for publication in the proceedings. Approximately 60 papers are expected to be presented directly at the conference.

Accordingly, there will be five world-renowned professors in economics participating in the event: Prof. Tom Smith – Professor of Finance, Macquarie University, Australia, and Co-editor of the Journal of Accounting Literature; Prof. Ellie (Larelle) Chapple – Professor of Accounting, QUT Business School, and Director of the research program Accounting for Social Change; Prof. Tam Nguyen – Professor of Accounting and Finance, Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom; Prof. Bruno Mascitelli – Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia; and Prof. Petros Ieromonachou – Deputy Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange, Greenwich Business School, University of Greenwich, United Kingdom.

The in-person and online participants shared their comments and suggestions regarding the preparation work and specific requirements to ensure the success of the conference.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thanh Hoang – Head of the Department of Scientific Management, Standing Member of the Organizing Committee, delivered his remarks.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thanh Hoang requested that all assigned focal points within the Organizing Committee complete their designated tasks and ensure close coordination to guarantee effective connection among the co-organizing institutions.

Immediately after the meeting, the Organizing Committee promptly proceeded with various key activities such as connecting with keynote speakers, preparing facilities, finalizing the conference program, and completing the list of invited guests.

By early November, the Organizing Committee had reached full agreement on all aspects of preparation, including content, program, guest list, time, and venue.

The conference will take place in Hanoi over three days, from November 13 to 15, 2025, hosted and chaired by the Academy of Finance, in collaboration with prestigious domestic and international institutions: the Institute of Socio-Economic and Environmental Studies, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics; the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City; RMIT University; Macquarie University; Knowledge Bridge; and the Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom.

On the morning of November 13, at the Academy of Finance (No. 58 Le Van Hien Street, Dong Ngac, Hanoi):

  • Workshop 1: International Publication: What Do Journal Editors Expect from Quantitative and Qualitative Research?

  • Workshop 2: Publishing in Business Journals

On November 14, at the Hoa Lac campus of the Academy of Finance, the conference will feature one plenary session and several parallel sessions:

  • The Plenary Session will include four keynote speeches by Prof. Tom Smith, Prof. Ellie (Larelle) Chapple, Prof. Bruno Mascitelli, Prof. Petros Ieromonachou, and Prof. Tam Nguyen.

  • The parallel sessions will cover six themes:

    1. Economics and Public Policy – chaired by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Faculty of Finance and Banking, Academy of Finance;

    2. Digital Transformation in Economics, Finance, and Accounting – chaired by the Knowledge Bridge Institute (KBERI);

    3. Finance and International Financial Markets – chaired by the Faculty of International Finance and the Faculty of Banking and Insurance, Academy of Finance;

    4. Corporate Governance – chaired by the Faculty of Business Administration, Academy of Finance;

    5. Corporate Finance – chaired by the Faculty of Corporate Finance, Academy of Finance;

    6. Accounting and Auditing – chaired by the Faculty of Accounting, Academy of Finance.

On November 15, at No. 58 Le Van Hien and No. 69 Duc Thang, Hanoi,
the conference will continue with four online parallel sessions under Theme 7: “Sustainability in Economics, Finance, and Accounting”, chaired by the Knowledge Bridge Institute and the Faculty of Accounting and Corporate Finance. Additionally, a scientific roundtable will be held on the same day, featuring Prof. Tam Nguyen as the keynote speaker.

Continuing the tradition of its seven previous editions, this annual academic forum has established itself as a prestigious platform attracting domestic and international scholars. The conference features not only high-quality academic research but also practical studies, offering valuable insights, solutions, and policy recommendations for innovation and economic development in Vietnam. It aims to foster sustainable development and strengthen comprehensive cooperation in education, research, and science and technology in the field of sustainable economic and financial development among universities at home and abroad.
